The Ceges/Soma and the Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste, a successful cooperationIn April 2008, the Ceges-Soma embarked on a successful cooperation with the Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste (ASF) by welcoming young German volunteers to its institution. The ASF is a German organisation that wants to promote the relationship between generations, cultures and religions, while considering the consequences of Nazism in the different European countries. It was founded after the war as a response to the aftermath of the national socialist regime. It endeavours to alert society to the consequences of this violent period and to fight against all forms of racism, anti-Semitism and exclusion of minorities. |
Do you have photographs of the First World War?If you possess photographs of the First World War, we would like to make the following appeal. 2014 will be the year of the hundredth anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. The Ceges- Soma cooperates towards the renovation of the Bastogne Historical CenterIn 2012, the Bastogne Historical Center, of which the present exhibition concept dates from 1976, will reopen its doors. The new museum aims to be a place of reference on the history of the Second World War. With the new approach, there is a definite choice for a long-term perspective: the chronological itinerary starts at the end of the First World War and ends with the fall of the Berlin Wall. Naturally, the Second World War, and more specifically the Battle of the Bulge, will remain the museum's core focus. The Ceges-Soma cooperates actively with the renovation. Read more... |
The Ceges-Soma is looking for witness accounts and documents on life in Mons during the two World WarsThe Ceges-Soma is associated with the development of the concept for the future 'Centre d'interprétation de l'histoire militaire' in Mons. In particular, the Ceges-Soma has been asked to augment the collections of the old municipal museum of military history. The new museum, which should open its doors in 2014 in the beautifully restored building of the Machine à eau, will among other things tell the history of the two World Wars in Mons. At present, an exhaustive list is being made of all objects, documents and witness accounts which can be useful for the future museum. In this context, the Ceges-Soma is looking for photographs, films, letters, witness accounts and objects that shed light on the life of the inhabitants of Mons in 1914-1918 and 1940-1945.
