Volunteers
For many years the Ceges/Soma has been fortunate to have a dynamic team of volunteers at its disposal. The head of the Documentation Sector, Fabrice Maerten, coordinates the valuable activities of this team. They consist of classification and inventorisation of our archive collections that concern mainly the political and cultural history of Belgium from 1940 to the 1970s, focusing in particular on the two World Wars. The volunteers occupy a spacious office in the recently renovated part of the building, on the fourth floor. They enjoy the same logistic support as the Ceges/Soma staff and are also associated to the multiple collective activities of the institution.
Please contact Fabrice Maerten if you wish to become a volunteer at the Ceges/Soma.
Good intentions are particularly welcome in 2009 after a year in which several members of the team left the Centre. After many years of working in the archives and in the audiovisual sector, Sylvain Wolf passed away in December 2008. His efforts culminated in remarkable work results. The Centre welcomes all volunteers who are methodical as well as passionate about classifying archives, press cuttings or photographs !
In 2012, the team of volunteers consists of:
- Pierre Brolet, Christian Vanneste, Antoine Burgard, Razvan Nedelcu and Nico Theunissen who classify and inventorise archive collections under the guidance of Dirk Martin. Christian Vanneste, Antoine Burgard, Razvan Nedelcu and Nico Theunissen classify and inventorise archive collections, and Pierre Brolet verifies the inventories.
- Mania Kozyreff who classifies press cuttings in the library department under the supervision of Alain Colignon.
- Gilbert Waeyenbergh and Bruno Picard who work in the audiovisual department under the supervision of Florence Gillet. Gilbert Waeyenbergh classifies photographs of the news agency Sipho. Bruno Picard classifies carefully the radio programme Jours de guerre.
The volunteers: a job for young and oldValuable members of the Documentation sector, the volunteers distinguish themselves from the rest of the Ceges-Soma team by an increasingly rich mix between experience and stability of the oldest members on the one hand, and by the enthusiasm and inventiveness of the younger members on the other. This year in particular we have had the pleasure of receiving quite a few new young people. Several trainees also arrived to join the team. Read more... |
Comings... and goingsAmong the volunteers, the most remarkable event of the end of 2009 was the return of two pillars of the team, Jaques Drouart and Gilbert Waeyenbergh.Read more... |
