Dirk Martin

Dirk Martin graduated as a historian at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) where he presented a doctoral thesis on the local political personnel in the interwar period.

He was a junior researcher at the National Foundation for Scientific Research and he is a scientific collaborator at the Ceges/Soma since 1979 where he was in charge of the Documentation sector until end 2010. Working half-time since 1 January 2011, he now dedicates himself entirely to the management of the sub-sector Archives of the
Centre.

He is a member of various executive committees and associations in the scientific sector. His fields of research concern  Belgian foreign policy before, during and after the Second World War, local  politics in the interwar period, several aspects (especially of cultural politics) of the history of the occupation and the sources concerning the history of Belgium during the Second World War.
