Florence Gillet


Florence GilletFlorence Gillet is history licentiate at the Free University of Brussels (ULB). She has dedicated her dissertation to Belgian colonial propaganda in the United States during the Second World War. Between 2004 and 2007, she worked at the CEGES/SOMA in the context of a research project concerning the social memory of former Belgian colonials. At the same time, she continued her study on the colonial films of André Cauvin. She also worked in the archival department. Among others, she takes an interest in the problems relating to audiovisual archives. Since November 2007, she is head of the audiovisual department of the CEGES/SOMA. Her fields of research are the history of the Belgian Congo, the former colonials and colonialism in general, the Belgian cinema and propaganda
