Veerle Vanden Daelen


Veerle Vanden Daelen has a BA and MA in History from Ghent University and a PhD (2006) from the University of Antwerp. Maurice De Wilde's documentary series on the Second World War were the subject of her MA thesis. Her PhD work concerned the return and reconstruction of Jewish life in Antwerp after the Second World War (1944-1960). She has held fellowships at the University of Michigan (Frankel Institute for Advanced Judaic Studies, 2007-2008 fellowship “Jews and the City”) and at the University of Pennsylvania (Herbert D. Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies, 2008-2009 fellowship “Jews, Commerce, and Culture”).

She coordinates the work package Identification and Investigation for EHRI (European Holocaust Research Infrastructure) at the CEGES-SOMA. She is also affiliated to the University of Antwerp, where she has taught courses on Migration History, Jewish history, and other topics.
