Joseph Pearce

Joseph Pearce is currently living in Antwerp. He studied Germanic philology at KU Leuven, and became a Dutch and English teacher at the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwecollege of Antwerp. He began to write in 1999, publishing Land van belofte (Promised Land), a family chronicle about his father’s Jewish family. He subsequently published eight novels: Koloniale waren (2001), Maanzaad (2002), Met gebalde vuisten (2004), Het belang van Edward Lindeman (2006), Vaderland (2008), Schoolslag (2011), Suikertantes (2012) and Voet bij stuk (2015), several of which were translated. During twelve years Pearce wrote a sports column for the Flemish newspaper De Standaard and fiction and non-fiction reviews for the literary column of De Morgen.
