Mathieu Roeges

Mathieu Roeges (°1980) holds a degree in Contemporary History from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), where he also worked several years as assistant in Information Technology. In 2007, he joined the CegeSoma team for a project about the prospecting of archives ('Prospecting and inventorying of private archives “patriotic associations''). In 2008-2010, he was a researcher on the project « General secondary education in Belgium during the Second World War within a comparative perspective ». 

In March 2011, he became assistant to the head of the “Documentation” sector and took over the management of the CegeSoma collections in the Rue de Belgrade repository. From February 2014, he has been involved in various projects : the automated indexing of images (“Vers une innovation technologique en sciences humaines : recherche d’une indexation automatisée. La banque d’images du CegeSoma comme testcase”), the inventory of German archives on bank requisitions during the Occupation  (“Devisenschutzkommando : inventaire du fonds d’archives produit par le Devisenschutzkommando concernant les réquisitions bancaires en Belgique occupée (1940-1944)”) and finally 'UGESCO' (Upscaling the Geo-temporal Enrichment, exploration and exploitation of Scientific Collections ).

His main fields of research are the judicial repression of incivism, the history of education and the impact of information and communication technologies in the human sciences.

He left CegeSoma on 31.12.2018.
