Issue 2/2025 of the Journal of Belgian History (RBHC/BTNG) released

This new issue contains four articles, two of which ( first and third ) are written in English.
Wim Coudenys, Professor of Russian and European History (KULeuven), analyzes the life of Vassili Chelgounov, a Russian exile who supported Russian prisoners of war during World War I and played an important role in relations between Belgium and Russia, and later the Soviet Union.
Lilian Eyletters, researcher at the Belgian National Archives, analyzes the workings of the 'Commission d'Indemnisation des Dommages du Congo' (CIDC), placing this compensation policy in an international perspective. This commission was set up in 1965 to deal with compensation claims from Belgians whose possessions had been lost or damaged following Congo's independence.
FED-tWIN researcher Brecht Deseure (KBR/ULB) analyzes the genre of political caricature on the basis of the 'Petit album allégori-patriotique', a manuscript from the Belgian National Library's collections containing 74 caricatures and allegories on the Belgian revolution.
Finally, Coline Gérard (UCLouvain) and Louis Fortemps, doctoral student at the University of Lille and KU Leuven, explore the impact of German propaganda on personal diaries.
