Heili Verstraete

 

Heili Verstraete is Professor Emeritus of Russian Studies and former coordinator of the department Translation Studies of the Hoogeschool Ghent (now UGent). Her research topic was the relation between the Russian intelligentsia and the ideological system in the twentieth century. Within the interdisciplinary department translation studies, she published principally on  ‘culture and translation’, focusing on the translation of Dutch and Russian literature. Her present historical research is centered on the collaboration in East and West Flanders, based on specific cases, in de period from the First World War until the end of the Second World War.
