La Wallonie libérée, 1944-1945.

Based on a careful selection of little known photos, selected for their historical, narrative or aesthetic value, from the collections of CegeSoma or other public and private collections, Mélanie Bost and Alain Colignon present an alternative look at the feverish weeks and months of the liberation in Wallonia. The book treats the period from D-Day to the return of the prisoners in Belgium (April-July 1945). The focus is on the experiences of ordinary people who tried to survive in those difficult last months of war.

As part of the “Cities at War” series, the authors aim to grasp the personal experiences of people during crucial moments in history, with a focus on Belgian cities, towns and villages, both residential areas and industrial conurbations, to offer a new perspective on Wallonia between war and peace.
